Baxxis Medtech
Currently, more than 2 million people worldwide suffer anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries each year, with soccer, rugby, and skiing being the main causes. The current treatment, considered the gold standard, presents critical limitations that affect both elite athletes and the general population alike. The conventional reconstructive procedure relies on biological grafts (either autografts or allografts), which require a slow and unpredictable rehabilitation process, resulting in a functional recovery time ranging from 6 to 12 months.

During this period, patients face an uncertain and painful recovery. Clinical evidence indicates that the current method carries high reinjury rates, especially among young athletes, and significantly increases the risk of early-onset osteoarthritis. Recent studies suggest that the majority of athletes fail to regain their previous level of performance, compounded by a postoperative phase lacking objective data on joint evolution.
Baxxis is revolutionizing this paradigm through the development of a smart ACL prosthesis that integrates advanced biomechanical engineering with sensor technology. Our solution is an intra-articular device with precision-designed femoral and tibial components, manufactured using high-tech biocompatible materials with established clinical validation. Unlike biological grafts, the Baxxis prosthesis provides immediate mechanical stability.
This innovation enables a dramatic reduction in recovery time: up to 10 times faster than the conventional method (approximately 1 month compared to the usual 6–12 months). In addition to speed, Baxxis eliminates donor-site morbidity, mitigates surgical complications, and reduces indirect costs associated with the injury. Its key differentiator lies in recovery speed, objective monitoring capability, and intraoperative correction enabled by its integrated sensors.
