Last Wednesday, December 3rd, the governor of Santa Fe, Antonio Bonfatti, together with the Secretary of State of Science, Technology and Innovation, David Asteggian, and the other members of the provincial cabinet, held an event at the Presidential House in order to announce the selected projects to be financed by the first call of subsidy of the Agencia Santafesina de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (ASaCTeI, by its acronym in Spanish) (Santa Fe Agency of Science, Technology and Innovation) as part of its supporting program to scientific research and technology transference to the socio-productive system.
This call was divided in two lines of financing aimed to benefit the incorporation if highly complex equipment in research and technological innovation centers linked with the productive field and the development of innovation and technology processes in private companies, for them to relate to research centers respectively. In both calls there were more than 56 projects from the whole province, which were assessed by a committee of wise men from the scientific, technological and business world from different places, who were specially called together by the ASaCTeI.
In the first category, the Technological, Business and Social Innovation Center (CITES) of our Group was one of the five chosen institutions to receive these subsidies. From CITES we presented a project to mount a “Comprehensive Center of 3D Engineering for the development and manufacturing of special pieces with high added value for SMEs of the region”. The proposal includes, among the most important points, the purchase of a portable modular 3D scanner of high resolution (the only one of its type in the province), an industrial quality 3D printer suitable to work with different materials (the only one of its type in the country) and the hiring of engineers in the professional staff of CITES as a counterpart.
The aim of this initiative is to generate a platform of comprehensive and state-of-the-art work in the country which may be able to provide 3D engineering services, mainly to industries linked to metal and mechanical industry, car parts, agro machines, fluids, moldings, etc. For that purpose, in CITES we have created a group of specialists with residency in the province and proven experience in technological research and development for each of the involved areas. This is in response to the biggest objective of adding value and potentiating the regional economy from the technological innovation in research and development centers and its transference to the productive sector.
With this important achievement, which we conquered in less than a year after we launched the Center, we are positioning ourselves as an important actor en the System of Science and Technology of Santa Fe, which will allow us to potentiate the industrial development of the center-west of our province, as well as it positions us at the forefront of the country, in 3D engineering applied to productive sectors.
